Furries are a community united by a fascination with anthropomorphic animals, who gather on internet forums, dress up in extravagant mascot-style costumes and congregate at conventions all over the country. Tommy Bruce has been making work with the furry community since 2010. In this presentation, attendees will receive an introductory view of Furry through a slideshow of Bruce's photographs. As a self-identifying furry, Bruce will elaborate on his experience of Furry culture as it relates to identity, queerness and sexuality. With this presentation, Bruce hopes to shed light on the otherwise elusive community, in an effort to create a more understanding and welcoming environment for outsiders and those curious to involve themselves in the Furry scene.

Tommy Bruce is a photographic artist based in Baltimore, MD. He received his BFA in Photography from the Maryland Institute College of Art in 2014. He has exhibited artwork along the east coast and midwest and was an invited panelist at the 2016 New York City Porn Film Festival.
